Coast Guard Cutter
Did a night shift ride-a-long with the Coast Guard off San Diego the other day. It was a very difficult assignment. First of all, the ship needed to stay undetectable, meaning no lights. There was a half moon which added a bit of ambient which was cool though. It was also really choppy water which made for some twisting and turning in my stomach. I enjoyed the challenge and especially liked putting my new Canon 50D to the test. I shot a series of 30 second exposures( included the above image) with a tiny bit of morning light. It came out a bit noisy but I’m not too sure there is a better low light sensor out there.
